The DST took part in Girls’ Day for the first time on 27 April 2017 and offered 2 places for schoolgirls.

We were able to introduce the girls to our interesting topics and then inspire them with theoretical “practical” exercises on the simulator.

Experimental model studies are an important part of ship development. The girls saw and experienced how models are built and equipped in the carpentry and mechanical workshop. Then they accompanied the tests on the towing vehicle and got to know the measuring technology and evaluation methods.

They were then able to control an inland waterway vessel themselves using the ship’s command simulator. In addition, the girls were given an insight into the other fields of activity that are offered to engineers and scientists in the field of ship development and fluid mechanics.
