Project ELLA and DST at the IHK NRW mobility congress
On 19.01.2023 the DST was represented with the project Ella at the mobility congress of the IHK NRW. In the Mercatorhalle in Duisburg, representatives from the transport industry and politics discussed the topic “Verkehrswende Güterverkehr” in the afternoon. Among the invited speakers was NRW Transport Minister Oliver Krischer.
The event addressed the need for infrastructure measures in all transport sectors and the cooperation between politics and industry to speed up the planning, approval and implementation of infrastructure projects. The current situation of inland waterways in Germany was given special attention. The discussion focused on the Rhine, the West German canal network and the increasingly aging infrastructure.

The DST was represented as an exhibitor at the event with the models for the Smart & Green Ship and the experimental carrier ELLA. At the beginning of the third panel on “Strengthening Inland Navigation vs. Political Reality”, Dr. Norbert Salomon, Head of the Department of Waterways and Shipping at the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport, spoke in the plenary about the ELLA project.
