The opening of the 37th Duisburg Colloquium „Ships, Offshore Structures and Digitisation“ started with the granting of the honorary membership to Professor Hans Heiner Heuser for his outstanding activities and support of the DST for more than 60 years.
In his speech, Professor Ernst Müller outlined the career of this promotor of inland navigation. “He went ahead of his time”, with his innovative ideas and contributions and helped the DST gain international recognition at an early stage. In 1998 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his work.
The Management Board Chairman Hans Heiner Heuser managed the course of this research institute for more than 20 years. After his retirement he still remained the DST and its bodies closely linked. The awarding of honorary membership recognizes his long-term and successful contribution and expresses the gratitude of the DST.
