On 30th of October, the kick-off meeting takes place for the project „Innovative concepts for decentralised container transport on inland waterways (DeConTrans)“.
Together with the research and transfer partner “Institut für Forschung und Transfer” (RIF) as well as the “Generaldirektion Wasserstraßen und Schifffahrt” (GDWS) and the company “Konecranes Terex MHPS GmbH” as associated partners, DST will develop small, electrically driven ships for the decentralised transport of containers. It is intended to contribute to the development of the previously unexploited potential and capacity reserves on the Rhine, its tributaries and in the canal network with adjacent waterways for inland navigation.
At the kick-off meeting, the consortium will pave the way for the development of a new environmentally friendly ship type within an innovative transport concept. This project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
